Highlights this month include…


Social Committee

The Social Committee hosted our first fundraising event of the year at Home Lifestyle Club on April 15! 

We stretched & rolled out in a rejuvenating yoga class for a great cause. 

Complete with Poweraids to stay hydrated and Concorde Catering cookies for a treat after the class, it was an awesome event filled with all the feel-good vibes.  We’re so grateful to everyone who came! 

With donation matching from Concorde, the event raised $880 for the Women’s Centre of Calgary.

Alex

Meet Alex, one of our awesome Bar Managers and all-around great human. In addition to being an expert in all things mixology, Alex is also a CSP (Certified Sake Professional), a course recognized by the Sake Education Council of Japan. He’s always keen to recommend a fantastic sake pairing to take your experience to the next level. 

Alex joined our team two years ago and is well-versed in all things Lonely Mouth. His favourite thing about the restaurant is the mixture of cultures and vibrant personalities that all come together to create fantastically unique food, drinks and experiences. 

When Alex isn’t mixing it up behind the bar, you can find him playing baritone saxophone in The Woodhouse Big Band, a jazz big band that's been playing in Calgary for more than 20 years.

Alex brings a whole lot of fun and expertise to the table and we’re so grateful to work alongside him.


Congratulations, Josh!

Please join us in congratulating Josh Hanna on achieving his Chartered Professional in Human Resources professional designation!

The CPHR designation is a nationally recognized level of achievement within the field of Human Resources. Achieving the designation represents a commitment to a national standard of excellence, sets a benchmark for the practice of effective Human Resources, and emphasizes the strategic role of effective people management in business. To attain this certification, Josh had to pass a National Knowledge Exam and have his professional experience assessed.

This is not an easy certification to achieve, and we are happy to celebrate your accomplishment and contributions to Concorde, Josh!

Farewell Dustin

It is with mixed feelings that we announce Dustin Heater’s resignation from the Head of IT & Business and Technology Services. He will be sorely missed by many, and we are sad to see him go; at the same time, we’d like to congratulate him as he moves on to a new chapter in his life where he will continue to develop and challenge his skills in academic and professional settings.

Through the past 10 years at Concorde, Dustin has made momentous contributions and has supported the growth of the company in ways that have made many of our lives and routines easier. He joined us at National 17 as a bartender after leaving restaurant management with groups like Joey’s and Roosevelt. We tapped him on the shoulder to bartend at Wildhorse Saloon. He progressed into Bar Manager and Manager roles at National 17 and then Double Zero Chinook. He joined the Head Office IT team 5 years ago and assumed the role of Department Lead in the Fall of 2020.

Dustin has supported the company and the BATS team through numerous restaurant openings, POS conversions, the two-year plan to implement Office 365 completed in two months, and the midnight hour POS 911. We appreciate the work that we saw and understand equally to the work that we did not see and cannot understand, as much of his effort and his greatest achievements are seen and understood by few.

Dustin is transitioning duties to our new Director of IT, Lawrence Chang as well as leaving copious instructions, diagrams, schematics, guides and voice memos for the team.

We are having a send off for Dustin Thursday, April 25th, 3:00 pm at National 17. Please join us to share our thanks and appreciation and best wishes.

Lawrence Chang has joined Concorde as the Head of the IT Department. Lawrence is a passionate IT professional with strong experience with Project Management, Information Security, Data Governance, Vendor Relationships, Communication and Problem Solving. He enjoys a collaborative work environment that encourages innovation. Lawrence was most recently with the TELUS Convention Centre as Director, IT overseeing all aspects of IT with many successful implementations and installs. He is well versed in strategic and tactical planning of technology that matches the vision, mission, and objectives of the organization. In previous roles, he was heavily involved in Network and Systems management. Lawrence is as self proclaimed foodie so I am sure our venues will be seeing a lot of him out of work as well. Please welcome Lawrence to the Concorde Family when you next see him.
